The Fasten Rewards Visa Card is a great option for those looking to save on car-related expenses. It offers rewards on a variety of driving-related costs, including car loan or lease payments, insurance premiums, maintenance and repairs, gas, and more.
Here are five key things to know about the Fasten Rewards Visa Card.
1. Earn rewards on car-related spending
The Fasten Rewards Visa Card allows you to earn points on various car-related expenses:
-
3X points on purchases at Fasten Partners, which include participating automotive dealers, brands, and retailers.
-
2X points on car loans, lease payments, and other car-related expenses like gas, electric vehicle charging, repairs, car washes, towing services, purchases at auto dealers and tire stores, car insurance, parking, DMV fees, car registration, and more.
-
1X points on all other purchases.
The list of Fasten Partners may change, but currently includes only a few merchants in Florida, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, and Washington.
2. Choose from various redemption options
You have multiple options for redeeming your points:
-
A statement credit for a Fasten Partner purchase made within the past 12 months, valued at 1 cent per point.
-
A statement credit for any other purchase made within the past 12 months, valued at 0.5 cents per point.
-
The purchase of virtual gift cards through the Fasten app, valued at 1 cent per point.
-
For flights and hotels booked through the travel portal in the Fasten app, valued at 1 cent per point.
While Fasten Partner purchases, gift cards, and travel bookings offer the highest value per point, other cash-back cards may provide more flexibility with higher redemption values.
For example, the Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card earns 2% cash back on all eligible purchases, with redemption options including cash back, gift cards, merchandise, charitable donations, or purchases at select merchants.
3. Pay attention to the fine print
To earn 2X points on car loan or lease payments, you must also make $500 in purchases on the card each month. Additionally, there is a maximum of 2,000 points per month for car loans or leases, equivalent to $1,000 in car payments.
4. You can earn rewards without paying your loan with the card
You don’t necessarily have to use the Fasten Rewards Visa Card to pay for your car loan. By linking your checking account to the Fasten app, you can earn rewards on your car payments made from that account.
5. Be cautious about potential debt
The Fasten Rewards Visa Card has a high APR of 28.99%. If you end up carrying a balance and accruing interest, it may outweigh the value of the points you earn, especially for expensive car repairs or parts.
