Introducing the Virgin Red Rewards Mastercard, a co-branded card designed for U.S. consumers and issued by Synchrony. Launched in September 2024, this card, with a $99 annual fee, allows cardholders to earn rewards for Virgin Red, the loyalty program for Virgin Atlantic airline, Virgin Hotels, and Virgin Voyages cruises.

Here are five important things to note about the Virgin Red Rewards Mastercard.

1. Membership Requirement

To be eligible for the Virgin Red Rewards Mastercard, individuals must first become members of Virgin Red. It’s important to note that Virgin Red is distinct from the Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, although they are interconnected. By being part of both programs, cardholders can link their accounts for added flexibility in earning and redeeming Virgin Points.

2. Earning Rewards

The Virgin Red Rewards Mastercard offers various earning opportunities:

  • – 3 Virgin Points per $1 spent on Virgin Atlantic flights, Virgin Hotels bookings, and Virgin Voyages cruises.

  • – 2 Virgin Points per $1 spent at grocery stores, restaurants, streaming services, and electric vehicle charging.

  • – 1 Virgin Point per $1 on all other purchases.

New cardholders can also earn a welcome bonus of 40,000 Virgin Points by spending $3,000 within the first 90 days.

3. Travel Benefits

In addition to earning points, cardholders can enjoy extra travel perks such as:

  • – Annual third night free at participating Virgin Hotels with a two-night stay.

  • – 5,000 Virgin Points per card member anniversary.

  • – 2,500 Virgin Points for adding an authorized user (up to 10,000 points).

  • – Earn 25 Tier Points for Virgin Atlantic Flying Club for every $2,500 spent, up to 50 Tier Points monthly.

4. Personal Perks

By meeting annual spending thresholds, cardholders can unlock Personal Perks for enhanced vacation experiences. Spending $15,000 allows for one perk selection, while spending $30,000 enables two perk selections.

Personal Perks may include a companion seat voucher or cabin upgrade on Virgin Atlantic, a free night stay or room upgrade at Virgin Hotels, a $300 bar tab credit on a Virgin Voyages cruise, and a Blue Extras Perks Package on a cruise.

5. Redemption Options

Virgin Points can be redeemed for various travel and experiential rewards, including hotel stays, flights, train tickets, food tours, and more. Redemption values vary based on the chosen reward.

Additionally, as part of the SkyTeam alliance, Virgin Atlantic has partnerships with other airlines, allowing cardholders to earn and redeem points across a broader network.
