Ronin Network adopts Chainlink CCIP to strengthen cross-chain security

Ronin Network made an exciting announcement today by revealing their choice of Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) to enhance the security of the Ronin Bridge and strengthen the network’s cross-chain infrastructure.

After a rigorous three-phase selection process, Chainlink emerged as the top choice over competitors LayerZero and Axelar, impressing Ronin’s bridge validators with its robust security features. The protocol stands out with multiple Decentralized Oracle Networks (DONs), an independent Risk Management Network, and other security measures that significantly reduce the risk of attacks and vulnerabilities.

“Security was paramount in our decision-making process to select the cross-chain protocol that will safeguard the future of the Ronin ecosystem,” said Phuc Thai, Head Researcher at Sky Mavis. “In addition to cross-chain interoperability, we look forward to integrating Chainlink’s oracle services, laying a solid foundation for the next phase of DeFi growth on Ronin.”

The integration will kick off with support for bridge transfers between Ethereum and Ronin, with plans for a seamless migration in the coming months.

Chainlink’s CCIP has been adopted by numerous major financial institutions and market infrastructure providers to enhance their operations, improve interoperability between public and private blockchains, and facilitate secure tokenized asset transfers. Key partners such as BNY Mellon, Citi, Euroclear, Lloyds Banking Group, and Deutsche Bank-backed Taurus SA, along with blockchain projects like ZKsync, Sonic Labs, and Celo, trust the solution.

“The secure interoperability enabled by CCIP will empower the Ronin community to fully leverage the multi-chain landscape and drive the adoption of Web3 gaming,” commented Thodoris Karakostas, Head of Blockchain Partnerships at Chainlink Labs.
