Recent sightings of unidentified drones near sensitive government sites have raised concerns among residents and officials alike.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has responded to these incidents by banning drone flights over 22 critical infrastructure locations. Despite this, the White House maintains that there is no credible threat to public safety.

The surge in drone sightings has been particularly evident in or near airports and military facilities in several states and overseas bases in Germany and the UK.

According to the FBI, there have been over 5,000 reports of drone sightings in the past month, with about 100 of them considered to require further investigation.

Here is a timeline of some of the most notable confirmed sightings:

Dec. 16 – Hill Air Force Base, Utah

Multiple drone sightings were confirmed at Hill Air Force Base in Utah on Dec. 16. One drone was observed flying close to the fuel storage area at the facility.

The base has taken measures to ensure the safety of personnel, equipment, and infrastructure in response to these incidents.

Drone encounters at this location have been ongoing since 2022.

Dec. 13–17 – Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio

Drones were reported to have breached the restricted airspace around military complexes, including Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, from Dec. 13 to 17.

While no damage or threats were reported, one incident led to the closure of the airfields at the base for four hours.
