Exciting news for Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi holders! The popular credit card is undergoing some changes to its rewards structure and physical appearance. Here’s a rundown of what both new and existing cardholders can look forward to:
Tweak to gas rewards
Effective Jan. 19, 2025, the Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi, as well as its small-business counterpart, the Costco Anywhere Visa® Business by Citi, will now earn 5% cash back on gas purchases made at Costco. This is an increase from the previous 4% cash back rate at Costco pumps.
It’s important to note that all other non-Costco gas purchases and EV charging purchases will still earn 4% cash back, with a combined annual spending limit of $7,000 in the 5% and 4% gas categories, after which a 1% cash back rate applies.
Tweaks to physical card
In addition to the rewards update, the Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi will also be unveiling a new black card design, replacing its previous gray look.
Despite these changes, all other card benefits and rewards will remain unchanged. Along with the enhanced gas rewards, the card will continue to offer the following ongoing rewards:

3% cash back at restaurants and on most travel purchases.

2% cash back at Costco and Costco.com.

1% cash back on all other purchases.
The annual fee for the Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi remains at $0, but please note that a Costco membership is required to apply for the card. A standard Gold Star membership costs $65 annually, while the Executive membership is priced at $130 per year.
