GasBuddy Launches Charge Card for Additional Fuel Savings

GasBuddy, the fuel-saving platform known for the popular GasBuddy app, is introducing a new payment card that aims to reduce prices at the pump even further.

Issued by Fifth Third Bank, the Pay with GasBuddy+ charge card offers savings of up to 33 cents per gallon. It operates on the Mastercard payment network and replaces the Pay with GasBuddy fuel card, which will be phased out later this year.

While saving that much per gallon on every fill-up sounds like a fantastic deal, there are some conditions that may make it challenging to achieve those savings every time. Here’s what you need to be aware of.

To apply for the Pay with GasBuddy+ card, visit the GasBuddy website or use the app. No credit check is necessary, but you must be at least 18 years old, reside in the U.S., and link an eligible bank account. This linked account will be used to pay off your GasBuddy+ card balance.

Here’s how the card’s discounts work:

– Cardholders receive a base discount of 3 cents per gallon if they opt for autopay from their linked bank account. This discount can increase to 5 cents per gallon at select gas stations.
– By activating a Deal Alert in the GasBuddy app, you could receive up to 25 cents per gallon off.
– Spend $25 on non-fuel purchases inside convenience stores and get a 3-cents-per-gallon discount. To qualify for these savings, you must also be enrolled in autopay.

Discounts from Deal Alerts and convenience store shopping are stacked on top of the 3 or 5 cents per gallon discount, resulting in a maximum savings of 33 cents per gallon. Rewards earned on gas and convenience purchases are automatically applied at your next fill-up when you pay with the GasBuddy+ card. Unused rewards expire after 12 months.

Because the Pay with GasBuddy+ card is a charge card, you must pay off the balance in full each month. You can choose to pay via autopay or manual bill pay. Opting for autopay makes you eligible for per-gallon discounts and additional benefits, such as a higher spending limit and the option to upgrade to a Plus or Premium GasBuddy membership for extra gas savings and roadside assistance.

Overall, the Pay with GasBuddy+ card offers significant potential savings for frequent drivers who are diligent about managing their card payments and taking advantage of available discounts.
