Austin Delta Sky Club Review: Small, But Good Food

Austin, Texas boasts a main airport terminal with a special gem at one end – the Delta Sky Club. Among the limited airport lounges in the area, this one stands out along with the United Club and American Airlines Admirals Club.

For those fortunate enough to have access to Delta Sky Clubs, the Austin location offers ample space for work, socializing, and enjoying the view of planes.

Where is the Delta Sky Club at AUS?

To locate the Sky Club at AUS, take a left after exiting security and walk to the far end of the main Barbara Jordan Terminal. It’s a bit of a trek, and there are no moving walkways to assist you.

The Sky Club is situated near gate 4, and you can access it by taking a spiral staircase or an elevator to the second floor.

Operating hours for the Austin Sky Club are from 4:15 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Friday, and from 4:15 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. on Sundays.

Austin Delta Sky Club design

Spanning 9,000 square feet, the Austin Delta Sky Club is relatively smaller compared to other Delta Sky Clubs.

The interior features a rugged Texas-inspired design with dark wood, metal elements, and artwork by local Texas artists, including the city’s unofficial motto, “Keep Austin Weird.”

The layout of the club is circular, with a room to the left upon entry featuring large windows for plane watching, ample tables, and a food buffet.

Food and beverages

Similar to other Delta Sky Clubs, the Austin location offers a variety of cold and hot dishes that change throughout the day, transitioning from breakfast to all-day selections.

During a visit around noon on a Monday, the buffet featured dishes reflecting the Texas theme such as plantains, arroz verde, chicken tortilla soup, and barbecue.

The buffet also offered an array of cold salads, sandwiches, and charcuterie.

Adjacent to the food area is a spacious bar area with various seating options surrounding the central bar. The highlight is the glass wine tower, serving as a visually appealing display and climate-controlled storage.

The bar features cocktails and local beers on tap, and there’s a self-serve beverage station offering coffee, Coca-Cola drinks, water, lemonade, and iced tea.

One downside of this Sky Club location is the absence of indoor self-service beverage stations in the food area, requiring guests to leave the area for drinks.

A minor inconvenience in the grand scheme of things.

Phone booths and Sky Deck

Beyond the bar area, guests will find a room with workstations and wood accents for sound control and privacy.

A standout feature of the Austin Sky Club is the covered Sky Deck outdoor patio space, complete with fans and heaters for year-round enjoyment.

How to get into the Delta Sky Club

Eligible passengers can access the Austin Delta Sky Club up to three hours before their flight’s scheduled departure time, provided they have a same-day boarding pass for a Delta flight or partner airline.

Access to the lounge is available through various means such as a Sky Club membership, flying on a Delta One ticket, or possessing the appropriate credit card.

Delta SkyMiles program Medallion members can purchase an annual Sky Club membership for an individual at $695 or 69,500 miles. An executive membership for a member and two guests costs $1,495 or 149,500 miles.
