  • ANZ Bank, ChinaAMC, and Fidelity have successfully completed a cross-border settlement pilot utilizing Chainlink infrastructure.
  • Organized by Hong Kong’s central bank, the pilot aimed to test automated compliance and atomic payments.

A collaboration between American asset manager Fidelity and three major global financial institutions has resulted in a cross-border settlement pilot program in Hong Kong. The program leveraged Chainlink infrastructure for secure digital asset movement, atomic settlement, and automated compliance.

The pilot brought together Visa, ANZ Bank, and ChinaAMC’s Hong Kong branch under the second phase of Hong Kong’s CBDC program to explore the benefits of tokenized money in enhancing cross-border transactions.

The program, led by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, tested a system where digital money such as stablecoins and tokenized bank deposits were used for purchasing tokenized investment funds with near-instant settlement on permissioned networks and public blockchains.

HKMA chose Chainlink’s oracle network for interoperability between different chains. This included connections between DASChain, a permissioned blockchain by ANZ Bank, and Sepolia, an Ethereum testnet. HKMA highlighted Chainlink’s secure and compliant interoperability in tokenized asset ecosystems as a key factor in their selection.

Chainlink’s infrastructure provided automated compliance, verified identities, and atomic transactions for both sides of a trade, reducing settlement risk in regulated financial use cases.

Chainlink Facilitating Cross-Border Payments

Chainlink’s advanced solution utilized data, interoperability, and compliance standards to address institutional smart contract challenges, including automation for real-time settlement.

Chainlink’s CCIP enabled secure messaging between ANZ’s DASChain and Ethereum’s Sepolia for CBDC transfer across jurisdictions, solving institutional requirements within a single infrastructure.

Emma Pecenicic, Fidelity’s APAC Head of Partnerships, recognized the potential of fund tokenization to enhance operational efficiency and support cross-border investment opportunities, bridging traditional financial systems with the digital asset economy.

Recently, Chainlink expanded its presence in MENA as UAE’s ADI Chain adopted CCIP for its tokenization program.
