Ocean Network Launches P2P GPU Beta

Ocean Network, a decentralized compute platform for AI workloads, has recently unveiled its Beta launch of a peer-to-peer GPU orchestration layer. This innovative system aims to streamline access to high-performance hardware while reducing dependence on traditional cloud providers.

During the Beta phase, Ocean Network has partnered with Aethir, a distributed cloud computing provider, to acquire GPUs for its users. This collaboration ensures access to top-notch hardware like the NVIDIA H200 at competitive prices.

To entice early adopters, Ocean Network is offering $100 in compute credits. The platform is available worldwide, with capacity scaling according to demand. In the future, individuals and businesses will be able to utilize idle GPUs to generate income by providing compute resources.

A standout feature of Ocean Network is its Ocean Orchestrator, an extension seamlessly integrated into popular development environments such as VS Code and Cursor. This tool enables users to select hardware, deploy tasks, and monitor progress in real-time from a unified interface.

The platform operates on a usage-based pricing model, with payments facilitated through an escrow system on Base, an Ethereum Layer 2 network known for its cost-effective transactions. Funds are only released upon task completion, ensuring a secure transaction process.

In terms of data security, Ocean Network employs a compute-to-data model, where algorithms are executed directly where the data is stored. This means that only the results are transmitted back, without exposing raw data during the process.

The Beta phase is primarily focused on users running workloads, with future plans to expand into a wider decentralized compute marketplace.
