In a troubling case in Sweden, a Christian couple, Daniel and Bianca Samson, have been fighting to regain custody of their daughters since 2022. The government cited their regular church attendance and faith as reasons for removing the children from their care.
The European Court of Human Rights recently refused to accept the couple’s appeal, further prolonging the separation from their children.
The saga began when their eldest daughter falsely accused them of abuse after a disagreement. Despite the retraction of the allegation and no evidence of abuse found by the police, the state intervened and took custody of both girls.
The government claimed to have found evidence of “religious extremism” due to the family’s church attendance and strict religious upbringing.
In a shocking turn of events, the girls have been moved between foster homes, with one of them reportedly experiencing physical and mental health issues, including a suicide attempt.
The parents, with the help of Alliance Defending Freedom International, have been fighting tirelessly to reunite their family, but have faced multiple setbacks in the legal system.
The case raises serious concerns about religious freedom and parental rights in Europe, highlighting the need for greater scrutiny and protection of these fundamental rights.
