During a segment on Stephen Colbert’s show, an awkward and amusing moment occurred when he seriously claimed that CNN was “objective” and “just reports the news as it is,” leading to his own audience bursting into laughter at the notion.

The incident took place during Colbert’s interview with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, known for her anti-Trump bias, including comments made during a town hall event with Trump last year.

Collins suggested that Trump struggled to criticize Kamala Harris due to her race and gender, stating, “It’s kind of been this moment where he has not been able to coalesce behind a single attack line.”

NEW: Audience starts cracking up after a serious Stephen Colbert tells CNN’s Kaitlan Collins that CNN “just reports the news as it is.”

Remarkable.

Colbert: “I know you guys are objective over [at CNN], you just report the news as it is.”

Colbert’s statement, “I know you guys are objective over there, that you just report the news as it is,” was met with laughter from the audience.

Collins responded in surprise, asking, “Was that supposed to be a laugh line?”

Colbert admitted, “It wasn’t supposed to be but ah, I guess it is.”

It’s clear that even Colbert’s own audience finds the idea of CNN being “objective” to be humorous.

Elon Musk commented, “Lmaooo, the public knows.”
