Allstate CEO Tom Wilson faced criticism after suggesting that Americans should embrace people’s “imperfections and differences” in response to the New Orleans terror attack.
Wilson made the comments following the New Year’s Day terror attack in New Orleans, where ISIS supporter Shamsud-Din Jabbar drove into crowds, killing 14 and injuring at least 35.
Jabbar had expressed his support for Islamic State in a video before the attack, according to authorities.
During the Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, Wilson implied that the incident highlighted the importance of political correctness.

“Welcome to the All-State Sugar Bowl. Wednesday, tragedy struck the New Orleans community. Our prayers are with the victims and their families,” Wilson said.
“We also need to be stronger together by overcoming an addiction to divisiveness and negativity. Join Allstate, working in local communities all across America to amplify the positive, increase trust, and accept people’s imperfections and differences.”
“Together, we win.”
Some questioned the target audience of Wilson’s remarks, as the only divisiveness and negativity evident was the motivation behind Jabbar’s attack.

Some individuals declared their intention to switch their insurance provider away from Allstate due to Wilson’s controversial statements.
@Allstate, my wife and I will be terminating our insurance with your company tomorrow morning. We will have new insurance for our home and auto policies by noon. Likewise, my four sons and two daughters, all insured with you, will be seeking coverage elsewhere. Pound salt.
