Bilt’s 3 New Cards Earn Rewards on Housing, But It’s Complicated

Bilt started as a tenant’s dream, but now it’s expanding its horizons to include homeowners as well.

Their highly anticipated new credit cards — the Bilt Blue Card, Bilt Obsidian Card, and Bilt Palladium Card — are now available for pre-order as of Jan. 14, 2026. These cards allow you to earn rewards on rent payments and mortgages without having to pay processing fees.

If you choose to earn rewards on rent and mortgage payments, there is a 3% processing fee. However, the new cards introduce a new rewards currency called Bilt Cash, which can be used to cover this fee. Bilt Cash is earned on everyday purchases, along with Bilt Points, the original currency of the program.

The new Bilt cards replace the previous Bilt World Elite Mastercard® Credit Card issued by Wells Fargo. Unlike the old card, two of the new Bilt cards come with annual fees but offer welcome bonuses for new cardholders, including those upgrading from the old card.

You can select your preferred card in the Bilt app or on their website by Jan. 30, 2026, to receive the new card by Feb. 6, 2026. The cards will be usable starting Feb. 7, 2026.

The introduction of Bilt Cash adds complexity to the new Bilt credit cards, as they now earn two different reward currencies. The cards can offer value, especially if you use them frequently for non-housing purchases. However, the math involved may not work in everyone’s favor, especially for larger rent or mortgage payments.

If the new cards don’t make sense for you, you are not required to upgrade from the old Bilt World Elite Mastercard® Credit Card. If you choose not to upgrade, you will be automatically transitioned to the Wells Fargo Autograph® Card.
