Bitget is proud to support UNICEF’s global Game Jam hackathon and is working on developing UNICEF’s first blockchain training module to help young people acquire digital skills.

Summary

  • The hackathon is open to participants under 21 from 8 countries.
  • As part of the partnership with UNICEF, Bitget Academy is creating UNICEF’s first interactive blockchain training module for video game production.

Bitget, the leading Universal Exchange (UEX) in the world, has officially announced its support for UNICEF’s inaugural global Game Jam. This virtual hackathon aims to empower youth from eight countries to develop original video games over a 40-day period. Participants under the age of 21 from Armenia, Brazil, Cambodia, India, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Morocco, and South Africa are eligible to participate.

This initiative is part of Bitget’s collaboration with UNICEF’s Game Changers Coalition, which strives to equip young individuals, particularly girls in developing economies, with STEAM skills and opportunities for entrepreneurship and innovation.

Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget, stated, “Introducing digital skills to children at a young age is crucial for advancing the growth of emerging technologies and finance. Technologies like blockchain provide the necessary tools for young people to become entrepreneurs, creators, and innovators on a global scale. We aim to harness this potential to make the digital realm more inclusive and empowering for the next generation of female leaders.”

As part of this partnership, Bitget Academy, the educational branch of Bitget, is developing UNICEF’s first interactive blockchain training module tailored for video game production. This program will teach practical blockchain skills, such as smart contract integration, tokenization, and decentralized game mechanics, and is expected to benefit 300,000 individuals, including adolescent girls, parents, mentors, and teachers across the eight countries.

The hackathon initiative follows Bitget’s recent expansion of its flagship women-in-blockchain initiative, Blockchain4Her, with the launch of the “Lady Forward” campaign. This campaign includes university partnerships, internship programs, and the Female Leaders Program, connecting women in the blockchain industry.

Since its establishment in January of last year, Blockchain4Her has made a significant impact, funding 11 women-led startups through Pitch n’ Slay competitions and engaging over 300,000 individuals globally through collaborations with UNICEF’s Game Changers Coalition.

This initiative builds on the previous Blockchain4Youth program, launched in May 2023, which provides students with digital and entrepreneurial skills through courses, hackathons, and mentorship programs.
