Bitlayer adopts Chainlink CCIP for cross-chain transfers between Bitlayer and Ethereum

  • Bitlayer, a prominent Bitcoin layer 2 network, has recently shifted to utilizing Chainlink CCIP as its designated cross-chain standard for facilitating transfers with Ethereum.
  • CCIP now effectively manages secure transfers for a variety of assets including BTR, USDC, USDT, ETH, and wstETH between the Bitlayer network and Ethereum.

Bitlayer, known for its innovative Bitcoin layer 2 solutions, has successfully transitioned to employing Chainlink CCIP as its primary cross-chain infrastructure for seamless transfers between Bitlayer and Ethereum.

The Chainlink interoperability standard now oversees secure transfers of Bitlayer’s native token BTR, along with other key assets such as USDC, USDT, ETH, and wstETH between these two interconnected networks. Bitlayer’s forthcoming goal is to integrate YBTC, its Bitcoin-pegged asset, as a cross-chain native asset via CCIP in the near future.

The adoption of CCIP signifies a strategic move aimed at enhancing liquidity within Bitlayer’s ecosystem while simultaneously expanding the decentralized finance capabilities of Bitcoin.
