Blackstone Appoints New Global Head of Core+
Blackstone has announced the appointment of a new global head of Core+, with the role set to be assumed on Nov. 10. The new appointee will be taking over from Wesley LePatner, who tragically lost his life in a shooting incident in July along with three others. Authorities have confirmed that LePatner and the firm were not specifically targeted in the attack.
The shooter, identified as 27-year-old Shane Tamura, opened fire at Blackstone’s headquarters located at 345 Park Avenue, which also houses KPMG and the National Football League. The NFL was reported to be the gunman’s target. In addition to LePatner, three other individuals, including a New York Police Department officer, lost their lives in the attack. Tamura later succumbed to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Following these tragic events, Tim Johnson will be taking over Keenan’s real estate debt strategies post at Blackstone. The company has also appointed Zaneta Koplewicz as co-president and director of the real estate income trust. Blackstone, known as the world’s largest alternative asset manager, continues to make strategic changes in its leadership team.
