FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino discussed the Bureau’s current priorities and addressed concerns around national security, immigration, and public health transparency during an appearance on Hannity Wednesday night.

The conversation delved into the FBI’s approach to domestic and international threats under the leadership of Bongino and Director Kash Patel in the early stages of a second Trump administration.

Hannity inquired about the FBI’s top priorities, to which Bongino emphasized preventing large-scale terrorist attacks in major U.S. cities.

He stated, “We can’t have New York, D.C., or L.A. go boom,” highlighting the daily operational focus on averting such threats.

Bongino also highlighted cybersecurity and foreign intelligence infiltration as key concerns, describing them as “co-equal priorities.”

The discussion then shifted to the southern border, with Bongino acknowledging the challenges posed by unlawful entry and emphasizing the FBI’s efforts to address potential security threats.

Regarding the classification of certain acts, Bongino asserted a direct approach, stating, “We’re not the Federal Bureau of word games anymore,” and emphasizing the investigation of targeted violence and extremist activities as terrorism.

On the topic of COVID-19, Bongino assured that investigations into the virus’s origins and potential government misinformation are ongoing.

He also addressed accountability within the FBI, particularly focusing on former Director James Comey and the need to address internal issues from past administrations.

Bongino concluded by outlining his vision for the FBI’s future under a second Trump term, emphasizing goals such as enhancing public safety, tackling cyber threats, and ensuring measurable progress in counterintelligence efforts.

Overall, the interview provided insights into the FBI’s strategic priorities and operational focus moving forward.
