Can The Tyranny Be Soft-Landed?

Authored by Jeffrey Tucker via The Brownstone Institute,

The argument that the current regime is an improvement compared to what it was or could have been is only sustainable for so long.

Throughout history, every transitional government has employed this narrative. The Girondins in France, Kerensky in Russia, Weimar in Germany, the Second Spanish Republic, Chiang Kai-shek in China, and others all followed this pattern. They were eventually replaced by more radical leaders such as Robespierre, Napoleon, Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Franco, and Mao.

In each of these instances, the transitional government struggled and was ultimately overwhelmed by pressures from both sides: loyalists of the old regime with established power, and the radicalism of the populist movements that brought new leaders to the forefront.

Navigating this delicate balance during revolutionary times is incredibly challenging. History teaches us that during such periods, one key lesson stands out above all others: the new regime must acknowledge the wrongdoing of the previous regime and diligently work to dismantle it swiftly. Failing to do so will lead to its own downfall and replacement.

Today, within every facet of the government under the Trump administration, which is now entering its second phase, we can observe these historical forces at play. The grassroots movement that defied all odds to bring new leadership into power had lofty and revolutionary aspirations following a tumultuous five years.

While some of these expectations have been partially met in positive ways, many others have been neglected or obstructed, glaringly visible to all. This situation impacts issues such as the budget crisis, demands for transparency, and public health matters.

Consequently, the initial enthusiasm that accompanied Trump’s inauguration has transformed into a mixture of skepticism among the grassroots and outrage from the mainstream media and establishment that vehemently opposed this revolution.

This raises a concerning possibility that we have warned about repeatedly: the Trump administration may be remembered as a transitional regime, similar to many others in history, a brief period of moderation sandwiched between different forms of totalitarianism.

This is a grave situation, not a mere political game. The events of the past five years have had far-reaching consequences. The global economy was devastated by actions of various governments due to a lab incident involving a product partially funded by the US government. The response, justified in the name of science, involved the widespread distribution of a new vaccine utilizing gene-altering technology.

However, this vaccine proved ineffective and unsafe, rushed into deployment under emergency measures without proper vetting. Critics were silenced, alternative treatments disregarded, and those who refused the vaccine faced repercussions. Public health suffered in the name of protecting it.

These injustices have yet to be addressed.

Furthermore, to finance this crisis, debt-fueled spending skyrocketed by $8-10 trillion, resulting in a federal budget inflated by $2 trillion. The problematic vaccines remain on the market despite well-documented harms.

Thanks to advancements in information technology, the populace is well-informed about these issues. The so-called “populist movement” has evolved into a knowledgeable community capable of challenging traditional institutions and figures.

The new administration, elected to address these issues and more, including crime and immigration challenges, began with bold promises and decisive actions that offered hope. However, four months later, they are facing obstacles from all sides, from media scrutiny to legal hurdles.

The biggest issue now is the loss of public trust.

The nation, scarred by years of deception, demands evidence before believing promises. They are skeptical and demand transparency.

  • Firstly, there is skepticism regarding the “one big beautiful bill” being just the beginning of more severe cuts to come. This pattern has been observed too many times, prompting even Elon Musk to denounce the massive Congressional spending bill as an abomination.

  • Secondly, while some progress has been made in government transparency, it falls short of expectations. Essential files, such as those related to Epstein and JFK, remain incomplete. Questions remain unanswered about various incidents, including 9/11 and the handling of the Covid crisis.

  • Thirdly, in the realm of public health, notable advancements have been made. An Executive Order on science has been issued, Covid testing has ceased, and unethical research practices have been halted. However, concerns remain regarding the mRNA vaccines and the lack of thorough evaluation.

While there have been positive changes, it’s essential to acknowledge that these policies should never have existed in the first place.

There are additional initiatives outlined in the MAHA Commission report that signify positive shifts from past practices.

The leaders in these agencies are appealing for patience, which is reasonable considering the challenges they face. They are tasked with confronting a complex and deeply entrenched system that wields significant power.

It’s clear that dismantling such a formidable system will take time, even with the best intentions. The grassroots movement simply seeks evidence of progress and transparency regarding delays. If certain decisions cannot be reversed immediately, the reasoning behind them must be communicated.

Observers, including those within dissident movements that elevated their leaders to power, have mixed reactions. Supporters of these movements acknowledge progress, while opponents criticize the changes.

From my perspective, after observing public affairs for decades, I see some progress in at least one area of government operations. This is a reason for optimism, although it’s important to recognize the room for improvement.

However, the unexpected release of a new vaccine, NexSpike, raises concerns and questions about the decision-making process.

Above all, what is needed is transparency regarding the events of the past five years. The current leaders must show that they share the outrage that fueled their rise to power. They must address the harms, deceptions, and abuses that have occurred.

It’s insufficient to proclaim a new era without addressing the past. The public demands honesty, accountability, and decisive action.

Every new government that inherits the challenges of the past must navigate the pressures from both the legacy regime and the populist movements that brought them to power. It’s imperative to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past that could lead to further disastrous consequences.

Now is the time to avert this looming disaster and set a new course for the future.
