Canada stocks closed lower on Monday, with losses in various sectors leading shares down.
At the close in Toronto, the TSX declined by 0.71%.
Among the top performers were Birchcliff Energy Ltd (TSX:), which rose by 5.56% to trade at 5.32, Advantage Oil & Gas Ltd. (TSX:) up by 5.26% to end at 9.60, and Tourmaline Oil Corp (TSX:) gaining 4.51% to 66.79.
On the downside, MAG Silver Corp (TSX:) fell by 4.02%, Tilray Inc (TSX:) declined by 3.92%, and Seabridge Gold Inc (TSX:) was down by 3.46%.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The volatility index was up by 6.56%.
Gold Futures and Crude oil prices saw some movement in the commodities market.
CAD/USD and CAD/EUR exchange rates remained relatively stable.
The US Dollar Index Futures showed a slight increase.
