Capital One Landing DCA: Upscale Dining, Grab-and-Go Food

The newly opened Capital One Landing at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) on Nov. 19, 2024, features a dining experience curated by Michelin-starred chef José Andrés. This unique airport lounge resembles a high-end restaurant rather than a traditional lounge setting.

Unlike typical lounges, the Capital One Landing does not offer workstations, buffet-style food, or cozy corners for relaxation during layovers. Instead, guests are greeted by a host and seated in a warm dining room where they can enjoy made-to-order tapas or purchase grab-and-go bites from a quick service counter. The experience is designed to cater to short-haul travelers and offers a more transient dining experience.

The elegant Capital One Landing is located after security in Terminal 2 and can accommodate up to 90 guests in the dining room. While the seated dining experience offers a host-seated service for made-to-order tapas, the grab-and-go ‘On the Fly’ section is separate and offers a la carte options for purchase. One downside is that the to-go options come with an additional cost, unlike other Capital One lounges.

Food is the focal point at the Capital One Landing DCA, with a variety of Spanish-style tapas curated by José Andrés. Guests can order hot tapas and beverages using a QR code on their table. The cold tapas bar offers starters like Caesar salad, hummus with veggies, and Spanish favorites like pan con tomate and fresh anchovies. The menu is designed for efficiency and speed, ensuring a quick dining experience.

Dessert options include Spanish flan, burnt Basque cheesecake, and soft serve with olive oil and chocolate shavings. Guests can also enjoy small bites and drinks from circulating carts, including caviar cones, gin and tonics, cheesecake, and mimosas.

The Capital One Landing offers a full bar menu with wines, beers, and specialty cocktails. The bar features foosball-inspired taps and an espresso martini machine for quick chilled drinks. The dining experience is designed to provide a gourmet sit-down experience without an additional bill for Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card holders.

Access to the Capital One Landing varies for cardholders, with different offerings for seated dining and grab-and-go options. Cardholders can make advance reservations for a table, while non-cardholders can purchase items at full price. The lounge is open daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Overall, the Capital One Landing offers a unique and upscale dining experience at the airport, catering to travelers seeking a gourmet meal in a relaxed setting. The concept aims to provide a more efficient and enjoyable dining experience for guests, with a focus on quality and speed.
