Chase is making changes to its consumer credit card travel and purchase protection benefits, aiming to enhance user experience. The bank has partnered with Assurant, a Fortune 500 company, to administer these benefits, replacing eClaimsline. The update is set to take effect on Oct. 1, 2024, covering all brand and co-brand Chase credit cards. Affected cardholders will receive a guide outlining the new coverages by Aug. 15, 2024.

The changes include increased auto rental coverage limits, improved emergency evacuation services, and the addition of travel and emergency assistance on select cards such as Chase Freedom Flex®, Chase Freedom Unlimited®, IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card, and World of Hyatt Credit Card. Additionally, travel accident insurance limits will be raised on select products.

Lost luggage reimbursement and extended warranty protection are also being added to select products, with improved terms and coverage limits. Trip cancellation/interruption insurance on the United Gateway℠ Card is being upgraded to include more family members and qualifying reasons for claims.

What’s changing?

Auto rental coverage

Coverage limits will change to $60,000 for eligible vehicles with a retail price of $125,000 or less. Cardholders will now have 100 days to notify the benefit administrator of an accident.

Emergency evacuation and transportation

The service provider will now arrange and provide emergency transportation for qualifying events.

Travel and emergency assistance

This benefit is being added to select products, offering legal and medical referrals, and access to other assistance services.

Travel accident insurance

Coverage limits are increasing to $500,000 on select products.

Lost luggage reimbursement

This benefit is being added to select products, providing reimbursement for lost or damaged luggage and personal property during air travel.

Extended warranty protection

Coverage limits are changing to $10,000 per claim and $50,000 per year, providing more protection for cardholders.

Trip cancellation/interruption insurance

The coverage on the United Gateway℠ Card is being enhanced to cover additional family members and more qualifying reasons for claims.

More coverage when you need it

BW recommends using credit cards for consumer protections like those offered by Chase. These enhancements provide increased coverage limits and benefits for cardholders, making stressful situations easier to manage, especially when traveling.
