Citi Nights: What It Is and How It Works

Citi Nights is an exclusive benefit offered by the Citi Strata Elite℠ Card, allowing cardholders to earn 6 points per $1 spent at restaurants during specific weekend time frames. These time frames are from 6 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday, and then from 6 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday (Eastern time). This perk is automatically available to Citi Strata Elite℠ Cardholders without the need for enrollment.

Outside of these designated time frames, cardholders earn 3 points per $1 on dining purchases. It’s important to note that the eligibility for the elevated rate is based on when the restaurant purchase is authorized, not when it is posted to the account. This means that even if a purchase is made during the Citi Nights period but posted later, it will still qualify for the higher point earnings.

Citi ThankYou points earned through the Citi Strata Elite℠ Card can be redeemed for various options, including travel, cash back, gift cards, charitable donations, and online shopping. The point value for cash back redemption is 0.75 cents each. Additionally, points can be transferred to multiple hotel and airline partners at a 1:1 ratio.

In comparison to other cards like the American Express® Gold Card, which offers 4 Membership Rewards points per $1 spent at restaurants (up to $50,000 in purchases per year), the Citi Strata Elite℠ Card stands out during the Citi Nights period with its 6x back on dining. However, outside of this limited time frame, other cards may offer higher point earnings at restaurants.
