Citi Rewards+ Credit Cards No Longer Taking New Applications

Citi has recently announced the closure of applications for two of its popular cards – the Citi Rewards+® Card and the Citi Rewards+® Student Card. However, existing cardholders can continue using their cards without being forced to switch to another Citi credit card.

Both Rewards+ cards come with no annual fees and offer a rewards structure that includes earning 2 ThankYou points per $1 spent at supermarkets and gas stations (up to $6,000 combined annual spend) and 1 ThankYou point per $1 spent on all other purchases. While these rates may not be the most competitive, they are still decent for cards that require a minimum of good credit to qualify for.

One of the unique features of the Rewards+ cards is a 10% points bonus on the first 100,000 ThankYou points redeemed per year, along with a “round up” feature that rounds up rewards to the nearest 10 points. For example, a $10.99 purchase would earn 20 points. These features may have been appealing to cardholders.

ThankYou points earned with the Rewards+ cards can be redeemed for various rewards such as gift cards and statement credits. Additionally, the Citi Rewards+® Card allows for point transfers to select travel partners like Choice Privileges, Wyndham Rewards, and JetBlue TrueBlue.

This information regarding the Citi Rewards+® Card and the Citi Rewards+® Student Card has been gathered by BW and has not been endorsed or provided by the issuer of these products.
