Coming Clean On Clean Energy: It’s A Dirty Business

It’s hard to ignore the massive push towards green energy, with the aim of replacing coal and natural gas with wind and solar power, and internal combustion engines with electric vehicles. The current administration has made green energy a top priority, but are we truly aware of the hidden costs and environmental impacts associated with these technologies?

While green energy is often portrayed as clean and environmentally friendly, the reality is far from perfect. The extraction and manufacturing processes of critical minerals required for wind turbines, solar panels, and EV batteries have significant environmental consequences, including habitat destruction, pollution, and even human rights violations.

China, a major player in the green energy supply chain, has subpar environmental standards, leading to high CO2 emissions and other environmental issues.

Additionally, the disposal of wind turbine blades, solar panels, and EV batteries poses a significant waste problem. The lack of large-scale recycling means that a vast majority of these components end up in landfills, contributing to a growing environmental concern.

Despite the push for green energy, it is essential to consider the full environmental impact of these technologies. A balanced approach that takes into account the environmental, economic, and logistical factors of all energy sources is crucial for developing sustainable energy policies.
