Exciting news for World of Hyatt loyalty program members: Hyatt has announced its acquisition of The Standard hotels, a collection of 10 boutique hotels in sought-after destinations like the Maldives, New York, and London. This move will add a touch of luxury to Hyatt’s portfolio of lifestyle brands by the end of 2024.
The addition of Standard hotels is part of a major expansion for World of Hyatt. Alongside the acquisition of Bunkhouse hotels, a collection of boutique hotels in the U.S. and Mexico, Hyatt has significantly increased its presence in the lifestyle hotel market. Since 2017, the brand has grown its number of rooms at lifestyle hotels fivefold and now holds the title of the world’s largest operator of luxury all-inclusive resorts based on room count.
Discover the Standard Hotels Joining Hyatt’s Portfolio
Known for their emphasis on design, ambiance, and prime locations near cultural hubs and nightlife scenes, Standard hotels offer a unique experience. Many properties are situated in historic or architecturally significant buildings, giving each location a distinctive charm.
The Standard hotels are set to open in five new locations by the end of 2025:
These hotels host a variety of events such as art exhibitions, book clubs, and music performances, often featuring celebrities and influencers. For example, guests can enjoy mahjong game nights at The Standard, East Village, or attend a summer celebration with Madonna at Le Bain, the rooftop bar at The Standard, High Line.
Internationally, Standard hotels offer equally vibrant experiences. At The Standard, Bangkok, guests can indulge in afternoon tea, cocktails, a workout at the 24-hour gym, a refreshing swim in the pool, and panoramic views from Sky Beach, Thailand’s highest cocktail bar.
Excited to plan your visit? The number of Hyatt points needed for an award night will vary based on the hotel category, but Hyatt’s prices remain competitive compared to other hotel loyalty programs. Despite its recent growth, Hyatt remains a smaller chain compared to industry giants like Marriott, Hilton, IHG, and Wyndham.
