Reliance Jio, a major player in the Indian telecom industry, has teamed up with Aptos Foundation and Aptos Labs to introduce blockchain-based rewards for its vast customer base of over 500 million users.
As the leading mobile network operator in the country, Jio is set to leverage Aptos’ layer-1 blockchain technology to offer digital rewards to its customers through its telecom services. This partnership was unveiled by Pawas Chandra, the company’s general manager and business head, during the “Aptos Experience” event.
Aptos is renowned for its efficient and cost-effective infrastructure that can handle large transaction volumes, making it an ideal fit for Jio’s extensive operations. Chandra mentioned that the blockchain-based rewards are currently undergoing beta testing, with approximately 9.4 million users actively participating in the trial.
Both companies emphasize that the rewards system will prioritize practical applications over speculative use. The main objective is to integrate blockchain technology into everyday digital experiences for enhanced utility.
Aptos Labs will play a crucial role in providing the necessary technical support for the development and management of the platform.
