Iran & Israel Secretly Agreed Not To Attack Each Other Through Russian Backchannel

During the recent protests in Iran, there were reports of secret negotiations and a ‘mutual understanding’ between Iran and Israel happening behind the scenes. As tensions escalated and President Trump made threats of military intervention, it appears that both countries were engaged in indirect diplomatic contact through Russia as a mediator.

According to The Washington Post, Israeli officials had informed the Iranian leadership via Russia that they would not initiate strikes against Iran unless provoked. In response, Iran also pledged to refrain from launching preemptive attacks. This communication was crucial in preventing further escalation of hostilities.

These backchannel communications, facilitated by Russia and specifically by President Putin, were aimed at de-escalating tensions rather than establishing a formal ceasefire or diplomatic agreement. The exchanges were limited in scope and intent, with no guarantees, timelines, or enforcement mechanisms in place.

It’s possible that this behind-the-scenes dialogue influenced President Trump’s decision not to launch military strikes against Iran. Despite the recent violence and casualties in Iran, the situation on the streets has now reportedly calmed down.
