Cave has been appointed to report directly to Kurt Johnson, the EVP and CFO of the company. With over thirty years of experience in the federal banking regulatory sector, Cave has held leadership positions at both the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).
During his time as the chief fintech officer at the FHFA in 2023, Cave led the agency’s inaugural tech sprint, which brought together experts and practitioners from the technology and mortgage finance sectors to tackle a common challenge.
The first tech sprint focused on how data digitization could enhance transparency and accessibility, fairness, affordability, and sustainability in mortgage lending. Following its success, the FHFA continued the tech sprint in 2024 with a focus on leveraging gen AI to address housing affordability.
Cave has contributed articles on fintech adoption to HousingWire and has also been featured as a guest on the HousingWire Daily podcast. A graduate of Bryant University, he previously served as a principal at Piedmont Risk Advisors, LLC, a firm he founded specializing in providing strategic advisory services to financial institutions.
In his new position, Cave will work closely with regulators, industry associations, advocacy groups, and government agencies to enhance support for Mr. Cooper’s customers.
