Located in Queens, New York City, John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) is one of the busiest airports in the United States. In 2023, over 60 million passengers traveled through JFK, making it a major hub for air travel. The airport has five terminals (1, 4, 5, 7, and 8) with approximately 130 gates, serving 194 destinations through more than 70 airlines.

JFK is located in Queens, NY 11430, about 17 miles from New York City. Ground transportation options include rental cars, taxis, rideshare services, and the AirTrain. The airport is operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

When flying to or from JFK, travelers have a wide selection of airlines to choose from, with over 70 carriers serving the airport. Some airlines, such as KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Ukraine International Airlines, have designated terminals, while others like Envoy Air and Hainan Airlines do not.

JFK is currently undergoing a $19 billion renovation to improve facilities and services, which may cause travel delays. It is recommended that passengers allow extra time for their journey to and from the airport.

Terminal 4 at JFK offers expedited screening for travelers, even without TSA PreCheck, through the RESERVE virtual queue program. Customs inspections are conducted in Terminal 4, with shorter wait times for travelers with Global Entry or the Mobile Passport Control app.

JFK has various parking options, including short-term and long-term lots color-coded for easy navigation. Rates range from $4 to $6 for short-term parking and $40 for the first 24 hours of long-term parking. Pre-booking parking in advance can secure a lower rate.

Transportation options at JFK include rental cars, AirTrain for metro access, and taxi/rideshare services. Taxis charge a flat rate to Manhattan, with a surcharge during peak hours. Rideshare pickups are available at designated terminals, with specific locations due to construction at the airport.

For travelers looking to maximize their rewards, it’s essential to plan ahead and utilize the various transportation options available at JFK to make the most of their journey.
