As National Police Week approaches, we take a moment to pay tribute to the courageous men and women who risk their lives daily to ensure the safety of our communities. We honor the fallen heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice and express our deepest gratitude to those who continue to serve with unwavering dedication. This is a time to reflect on the bravery, sacrifice, and selflessness that law enforcement officers demonstrate, particularly in Upstate New York and throughout our great state.
To the dedicated law enforcement officers of Upstate New York, the North Country, and across the nation: Thank you. Your service is invaluable, and your commitment to safeguarding our communities does not go unnoticed. I stand in solidarity with you and will continue advocating for policies that prioritize community safety, ensuring that you have the support and resources necessary to carry out your vital work.
During these challenging times, it is imperative that we stand up for those who serve us. While the radical left promotes anti-police rhetoric and policies that endanger our officers, it is more crucial than ever to support law enforcement. Movements like “Defund the Police” and the rise of anti-police sentiment pose a threat to the fabric of our communities. Our law enforcement officers are the cornerstone of our safety and security, deserving of respect, resources, and protection to effectively fulfill their duties. Their dedication ensures that law-abiding citizens can live without fear.
Regrettably, many on the left in Albany, Washington, and across the nation are taking law enforcement for granted. Policies like irresponsible bail reforms and calls to defund the police only serve to jeopardize our communities. It is time to acknowledge the vital role our officers play in public safety and cease allowing radical movements to undermine their ability to serve and protect.
Throughout my time in Congress, I have tirelessly worked to provide law enforcement with the support, training, and recognition they deserve. I have introduced legislation aimed at enhancing funding for police departments, improving officer safety, and bolstering mental health services for law enforcement personnel. I have also been a vocal advocate for holding criminals accountable while ensuring that police officers have the necessary protections to carry out their duties without fear of unjust repercussions.
In Upstate New York, we are fortunate to have some of the most dedicated law enforcement officers in the nation. Their efforts have contributed to our district having one of the lowest crime rates in the country.
I proudly stand with them and will always champion policies that uphold law enforcement and enhance community safety.
While National Police Week lasts only seven days, the gratitude and respect we owe to our men and women in blue should resonate every day. Thank you to our uniformed heroes, and may we continue to support and defend them in their mission to protect us all.
