FRANKFURT (Reuters) – Swiss food giant Nestle is aiming for steady growth in sales volumes starting from the second quarter and continuing for the rest of the year as cost inflation eases, according to CEO Markus Schneider in an interview with Swiss weekend paper “Schweiz am Wochenende” on Saturday.

“We can anticipate a consistent, positive impact on growth from volume and product mix from the second quarter onwards and for the remainder of the year,” Schneider stated in the newspaper.

In April, the producer of Nespresso, KitKat, and Perrier brands reported a 5.9% decline in first-quarter sales, which increased by 1.4% when adjusted for currency fluctuations. At that time, it projected a 4% growth in sales for 2024 on a currency-adjusted basis.

Schneider assured the paper that the company had successfully tackled challenges related to cost inflation and reduced sales volumes caused by higher prices. “We are now observing a stabilization of the situation,” he remarked.
