According to a recent Intel survey, many real estate agents are not convinced that the newly announced portal partnerships for “coming soon” listings will significantly impact their business practices.
The survey, conducted by Intel in March, revealed that most agents are cautious about the shift towards pre-market listings and its potential impact on consumers and the industry as a whole.
The survey focused on two main groups: agents affiliated with Compass-owned brokerages or Compass-acquired brands, and agents with access to the Zillow Preview partner group.
While some agents see the additional portal exposure as a positive development, many believe it will not significantly change their recommendations to clients.
The Intel survey also explored agents’ perceptions of the effectiveness of pre-market strategies and their impact on sale prices and time-to-sale.
Analysis of Pre-Market Strategies
Agents expressed mixed views on the effectiveness of pre-market strategies, with some believing it can help generate early interest and immediate offers, while others see little difference in sale prices compared to traditional marketing methods.
The survey also highlighted concerns about data integrity and market fairness related to pre-market listings, with some agents feeling that it could undermine trust in key metrics like “days on market” and price history.
Industry Perspectives
Agents affiliated with Compass and Zillow Preview had differing opinions on the impact of pre-market partnerships on the industry and consumers. While some saw it as a positive development, others expressed concerns about data integrity and market fairness.
The survey results indicate a lack of consensus within the industry regarding the benefits and drawbacks of pre-market strategies, suggesting that further monitoring and analysis will be necessary to understand the long-term implications.
