The National Association of Realtors has officially appointed Nykia Wright as its new CEO. This decision was communicated to trade group members in an email sent by President Kevin Sears, as reported by HousingWire.
Wright had been serving as NAR’s interim CEO since early November 2023, following the early retirement of long-time CEO Bob Goldberg. She assumed her role just days after a Missouri jury found NAR, Keller Williams, and HomeServices of America guilty of colluding to manipulate agent commissions.
“I am pleased to announce that Nykia Wright has been named as our permanent Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately,” Sears stated in the email. “After working closely with her for the past nine months, it is evident to the Leadership Team that she is the perfect individual to lead NAR into its next phase.”
Originally from Atlanta, Wright pursued a finance degree at Carnegie Mellon University. She continued her studies in international business at the University of Cambridge in Europe before returning to the U.S. to earn an MBA from Dartmouth. Prior to her role at NAR, she worked as a consultant for various private and public companies, including undisclosed real estate firms, and held an executive position at the Chicago Sun Times.
Despite not responding immediately to a request for comment, speculation within the industry suggested that Wright would be offered the permanent CEO position. This was seemingly confirmed by her recent appearance on the Real Estate Insiders Unfiltered podcast.
