When it comes to wine tourism, not all destinations are created equal.
According to Bounce’s Wine Lover’s Index 2023, the best destinations for wine and wine tourism are ranked based on five indicators: wine consumption, wine production, vineyard area, number of tours and tastings, and average cost of a bottle.
Portugal has been named the world’s best location for wine tourism in 2023 with a score of 8.83/10, topping the list.

Moldova secured second place, showcasing its long history of winemaking with a significant vineyard area. Italy and Spain followed in third and fourth place, with Georgia and France rounding out the top six.
Interestingly, only two of the top ten countries are outside of Europe: New Zealand and Chile, claiming the eighth and tenth spots, respectively.
