9 July 2024 —Tether Operations Limited, the largest company in the digital asset industry, has announced a strategic partnership with the Vietnam Blockchain Association (VBA) to enhance blockchain and digital assets education. This collaboration aims to educate the public on blockchain technologies through a series of conferences and workshops, promoting knowledge-sharing and capacity-building within the industry.
Headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam Blockchain Association acts as a central hub for individuals interested in standardizing and promoting blockchain technology in the country. It plays a crucial role in advancing blockchain technology in Vietnam and advocating for blockchain education through various educational events nationwide. The association’s initiatives, including educational programs and major conferences, have solidified its position as a prominent entity in the blockchain sector.
In 2023, Vietnam emerged as the third-largest gainer in the global cryptocurrency market, following the U.S. and the UK, with a total gain of nearly $1.18 billion. This positioned Vietnam among the top five Asian markets in terms of cryptocurrency gains. Reports indicate that Vietnamese citizens utilize cryptocurrencies to access banking services that would otherwise be inaccessible. With approximately 17% of the population owning or using cryptocurrencies, Vietnam has become a major hub for cryptocurrency activities.
The collaboration with VBA is a significant milestone in Tether’s broader strategy to promote education on bitcoin and stablecoins in emerging markets and to raise awareness about the benefits of digital finance. As part of this collaboration, Tether will host five educational conferences in key cities such as Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City.
Additionally, Tether will support VBA’s UniTour Program by developing educational content in partnership with the Academy of Blockchain and AI Innovation (ABAII). The UniTour Program, designed for university and college students nationwide, aims to inspire passion and nurture talent in AI and Blockchain, encouraging young individuals to explore career opportunities and pursue entrepreneurial ventures in the technology sector. Tether will also assist VBA’s SwitchUp Accelerator program by offering guidance, support, and potential investments for Web3 projects and startups.
