Donald Trump has announced plans to impose tariffs of 25 per cent on all imports from Canada and Mexico, along with an additional 10 per cent tariff on Chinese goods, as a response to illegal immigration and drug trafficking.
In a recent post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump declared his intention to implement these tariffs on his first day in office, citing the need to address issues related to border security.
The tariffs on Canada and Mexico are expected to remain in effect until the issues of drug trafficking and illegal immigration are resolved, according to Trump.
Similarly, the tariffs on Chinese goods will apply to all products and will be imposed in addition to existing levies on imports from China.
