Ukraine Claims It Can Intercept Conversations Of Kremlin Officials

The chief of Ukraine’s military intelligence agency recently claimed in a local media interview that they have the ability to intercept conversations of senior Russian officials. However, he did not provide any proof or specifics to support this assertion.

“Yes, we can. We get paid for this,” stated Kyrylo Budanov, the agency’s chief, in response to a question about Ukrainian intelligence eavesdropping on Kremlin officials.

Recent leaks to the Western press have revealed negotiations between Trump officials and Kremlin officials regarding the Ukraine war and Trump’s peace plan. Ukraine, along with European leaders, has been actively opposing the White House plan, which offers Russia territorial concessions in the Donbas and Crimea.

The leaked transcripts of conversations between Russian and US officials have been used to discredit the peace proposal as a ‘Russian-desired plan.’ Spy chief Budanov’s comments about Ukraine’s eavesdropping capabilities suggest possible involvement in these leaks, although they could have originated from the Russian side or another source.

President Zelensky is currently in London working on a ‘fair’ and ‘just’ ceasefire plan with European leaders, which includes provisions for Ukraine’s potential NATO membership. These terms are unacceptable to Moscow, as President Putin has stated that any plan without territorial concessions or a rejection of NATO membership would be rejected by Russia.

Overall, the situation remains complex and fluid, with competing interests and agendas at play.
