New Leftist British Prime Minister Scraps Illegal Immigrant Deportation Scheme

Authored by Steve Watson via Modernity.news

The new leftist British Prime Minister, Sir Kier Starmer, wasted no time in office by scrapping a controversial scheme to deport illegal immigrants to Rwanda. The scheme, devised by the previous Conservative government, was never properly implemented and has cost British taxpayers £270 million with no deportations taking place.

Starmer’s Labour party had promised to end this ineffective solution to the small boat migrant crisis, and his actions on day one of his premiership have aligned with that promise, as reported by the Telegraph.

The new Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper, has highlighted the need to secure the UK’s borders and has pledged to prioritize the establishment of a new Border Security Command. However, with the Labour Party known for its pro-immigration stance, skepticism remains high.

Despite the criticism, the current government is perceived as a better alternative to the previous Conservative administration, which was heavily criticized for its handling of immigration issues.

Following the recent UK election, Labour now holds the majority of parliamentary seats despite receiving only 34 percent of the popular vote. This discrepancy has raised concerns among the public, with around 80 percent of UK citizens not supporting the current Labour government.
