White House hits out at ‘leaked’ intelligence assessment on Iran strikes

Following a rebuke from US President Donald Trump over alleged ceasefire violations, a fragile truce seemed to be holding between Israel and Iran. The ceasefire, brokered by President Trump, came into effect on Tuesday morning but was quickly challenged by Israel citing Tehran’s breach and retaliating by striking an Iranian radar station.

After a conversation between President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel decided to refrain from further attacks. President Trump took to his Truth Social platform to urge Israel not to drop bombs, emphasizing the ceasefire agreement.

Despite expressing dissatisfaction with Israel’s actions, President Trump asserted that the ceasefire was still in effect. The truce marked a potential end to nearly two weeks of conflict between the two regional rivals.

Iran’s attack on the Al Udeid air base near Doha, in response to a US strike on its nuclear facilities, had caused oil prices to fall. However, with the ceasefire holding, oil prices stabilized.

Israel’s decision to halt strikes on Iran was made in coordination with President Trump, who had supported Netanyahu’s military campaign against Iran to eliminate perceived threats from Tehran’s missile and nuclear programs.
