Star Alliance, one of the major airline alliances worldwide, has recently unveiled its inaugural branded lounge in Asia at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN), a key international travel hub in southern China.

The newly opened lounge, situated in Terminal 1 and accessible to first and business class passengers on Star Alliance flights, as well as individuals with Star Alliance Gold status, offers round-the-clock service and includes amenities such as showers, catering to the needs of global travelers.

Currently, Guangzhou’s airport hosts 10 Star Alliance carriers, such as Air China, ANA, Asiana Airlines, EVA Air, Egyptair, Ethiopian Airlines, and Turkish Airlines. According to data from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport ranked as the 12th busiest airport globally in 2023, experiencing a significant surge in passenger traffic post-COVID-19. It has emerged as the fastest-growing among the top 15 busiest airports in terms of passenger volume.

The Star Alliance lounge at CAN showcases a blend of modern conveniences, including workstations, comfortable seating, and a VIP room for private meetings upon request. It also integrates local art and culture from the Pearl River Delta region, featuring a Tea Appreciation Corner and a diverse selection of culinary offerings and beverages.

For travelers holding Star Alliance Gold status, access to the new lounge is granted, be it via United Premier Gold, Platinum, 1K status, or equivalent statuses with other member airlines. Additionally, plans are in place for Star Alliance to open another lounge in Terminal 3 at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in 2025, reflecting the city’s growing prominence as an international travel hub.

If you want to explore other Star Alliance lounge locations, destinations like Amsterdam, Buenos Aires, Los Angeles, Paris, and Rio de Janeiro also offer similar premium amenities and services.
