Homes.com’s Andy Florance hits back at Zillow

Letter from Andy Florance:

Andy Florance, the CEO of Homes.com, recently addressed the real estate industry’s concerns regarding Zillow’s new policy of withholding listings not uploaded within 24 hours. This move by Zillow has sparked outrage among agents, as it limits their ability to market properties effectively.

Florance highlighted that Zillow’s decision goes against the principles of fairness and respect for agents. He emphasized the importance of agents having control over how their listings are marketed and the need for portals to remain neutral in their operations.

He also criticized Zillow’s lead-diversion model, which he deemed as anti-consumer and anti-agent. Florance pointed out that Homes.com follows a different approach, focusing on promoting the listing agent and ensuring that they receive due credit for their listings.

With over 110 million monthly unique visitors and one billion visits, Homes.com provides agents with a platform that prioritizes their interests. Florance reassured agents that even if Zillow blocks their listings, they can still be seen on Homes.com and other major portals.

Agents are encouraged to educate homeowners about the implications of listing on Zillow and consider the benefits of using Homes.com as an alternative platform. Florance emphasized that agents deserve control, respect, and a platform that supports their efforts to sell homes effectively.

Sincerely,
Andy Florance
CEO, Homes.com
