The Iranian Foreign Ministry affirmed on Friday its commitment to continuing diplomatic talks about its nuclear program, rejecting pressure and threats that violate international law.

The ministry criticized the US for imposing illegal sanctions on Iran and pressuring its economic partners, stating that these actions show the US is not serious about diplomacy with Iran.

The ministry emphasized that Iran will not change its stance on defending its rights and rejected the US’s attempt to alter the negotiation framework.

It mentioned that Iran’s negotiating team aimed to secure a fair agreement that respects the Iranian people’s rights to peaceful nuclear energy in the initial rounds of talks.

These negotiations began following a letter from former US President Donald Trump to Iran’s Supreme Leader, calling for resolving the crisis through diplomacy.

Trump recently announced a ban on the purchase of Iranian oil or petrochemical products, threatening immediate secondary sanctions on violators.

The talks between the US and Iran were postponed due to conflicting US positions and attempts to change the negotiation framework.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio demanded Iran to abandon uranium enrichment and long-range missile development, along with other activities.

Despite the postponement, Iran reiterated that its enrichment and defense capabilities are non-negotiable.
