These Are The Most Accident-Prone Cars In America

When looking at crash statistics, certain vehicles tend to appear more frequently than others. Factors such as driver demographics, size, and even color play a role in how often a model is involved in accidents.

Visual Capitalist’s Marcus Lu has ranked America’s most accident-prone car models using data compiled by Insurify. The top 50 list for 2024 includes models like the Kia Soul EV, Mazda Mazdaspeed 3, Chevrolet Bolt EUV, Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, and Volkswagen ID.4.

Interestingly, many major automakers have models on the list, but premium brands like Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, and Cadillac are notably absent.

One question that arises is whether electric vehicles (EVs) are more likely to be involved in accidents. While this dataset doesn’t provide a definitive answer, it’s worth noting that several EV models rank high on the list. Factors like the instant torque delivery of electric motors could catch some drivers off guard compared to traditional gasoline engines.

Research from 2024 even suggests that EVs may be 4% more likely to have at-fault insurance claims compared to gasoline cars.

If you found this information intriguing, you can explore more automotive insights on the Voronoi app from Visual Capitalist.
