The feud between Robert Reffkin, Zillow rages on

Zillow Implements New Listing Standards Policy

Real estate mogul, Reffkin, recommends visiting Homes.com, Realtor.com, Redfin.com, and Compass.com to view all available housing inventory. Redfin is set to enforce a listing standards policy similar to Zillow’s, with noncompliant listings being blocked starting September.

With Zillow’s listing standards set to go into effect, the platform will no longer allow publicly marketed private listings that are not entered into the MLS within 24 hours of public marketing. Listings must be visible on Zillow and other MLS feed sites to ensure equal access for all buyers and market participants.

Zillow’s phased rollout of the policy will begin in major U.S. markets before expanding nationwide. Agents with noncompliant listings will receive notifications, and after three offenses, further noncompliant listings will be blocked from Zillow and Trulia for the duration of the listing agreement.

Agents are being alerted of noncompliant listings via phone and email, emphasizing Zillow’s commitment to transparency and the best interests of consumers. Errol Samuelson, Zillow’s chief industry relations officer, highlighted the importance of cooperation in the industry during a discussion at HousingWire’s The Gathering.

Conversely, Compass has been promoting its private listings network and three-phase marketing plan, withholding listings from the MLS during the initial phase to feature exclusively on Compass’s private network.
