Hunter Biden Faces Lawsuit from Lawyers for Unpaid Bills

Hunter Biden, the controversial son of former President Joe Biden, is currently facing legal action from his lawyers for unpaid bills exceeding $50,000. The complaint, filed in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia by Winston & Strawn LLP, alleges that Hunter hired the firm for legal representation in various matters, including a criminal trial in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware. Despite providing extensive legal services, the firm claims that Hunter has failed to pay the outstanding fees, dodging their repeated attempts to collect payment.

The complaint includes a copy of Hunter’s engagement contract, signed in December 2022, outlining the scope of representation provided by the firm. Hunter’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, who has since left Winston & Strawn, had an hourly rate of $1,510, with billing rates for other attorneys ranging from $230 to $1,945 per hour.

The firm asserts that they have dedicated significant resources to defend Hunter, resulting in substantial legal fees. While some payments were made between March 2023 and October 2024, a significant amount remains outstanding. As of April 30, 2025, the total amount due, including interest, exceeds $50,000.

An initial hearing for the case has been scheduled for September 19. It remains to be seen how Hunter will address the allegations and settle the unpaid bills.
