Trump DOJ Files Blistering Response To Lisa Cook Lawsuit

The Trump Administration Responds Strongly to Lisa Cook Lawsuit

The Department of Justice has issued a scathing response to Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook’s lawsuit regarding her recent dismissal, citing allegations of mortgage fraud and asserting the President’s authority to remove a Governor for cause. The DOJ argues that Cook is unlikely to succeed in her legal challenge, emphasizing the President’s broad discretion in such matters.

According to the DOJ, Cook’s removal for cause is justified, and any judicial review would need to defer to the President’s constitutional authority. The DOJ highlights the significance of contradictory statements in financial documents as grounds for removing a senior financial regulator.

In addressing Cook’s claims of being deprived of due process, the DOJ points out that such protections do not extend to principal officers of the United States. Cook’s lack of explanation for the allegations further weakens her case, according to the DOJ.

The response also rejects Cook’s request for an injunction, citing recent court decisions that deem reinstatement injunctions inappropriate.
