Melania, Please Talk To Donald About Epstein

Authored by Frank Miele via RealClearPolitics,

Following an emotional press conference held by Jeffrey Epstein’s victims near the U.S. Capitol last Wednesday, the nation witnessed a powerful display of courage and determination.

The women who bravely shared their stories and demanded justice for themselves and others impacted by Epstein’s abuse left a lasting impact on all who listened.

However, President Donald Trump’s response to the victims’ pleas was met with disappointment, as he dismissed their calls for accountability as a “Democrat hoax.”

While Trump is known for his strategic rhetoric, this particular statement marked a concerning moment in his presidency.

While it’s understandable that Trump may see the focus on Epstein as a distraction, it’s crucial to acknowledge the suffering endured by the victims. Referring to their experiences as a hoax diminishes the gravity of their pain.

The women themselves rejected Trump’s dismissive stance:

“This is not a hoax. It’s not going to go away,” said Marina Lacerda, a witness in Epstein’s 2019 indictment.

Haley Robson, a survivor and registered Republican, invited the president to meet with them to understand the reality of their trauma.

Despite efforts by Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene to arrange a meeting between Trump and the victims, the president has not yet accepted the invitation.

Greene emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating, “because Jeffrey Epstein is a convicted pedophile. That takes away the whole hoax thing. It’s not a hoax. It’s not a lie.”

While Trump’s past association with Epstein may not imply culpability, his response to the victims’ plea for justice could have significant repercussions.

In a bid to steer the conversation away from political implications, Melania Trump could play a crucial role in urging her husband to prioritize compassion over partisanship.

Melania’s recent appeal to Russian President Putin to consider the innocent victims of war reflects her capacity to advocate for empathy and understanding.

Just as Melania implored Putin to protect the innocence of children affected by conflict, she could similarly call on her husband to empathize with Epstein’s victims.

While Melania may not need to draft a formal letter, a private conversation with Trump could underscore the importance of acknowledging and supporting the women who have come forward.

The Epstein case may not be the most pressing issue, but it represents a moral imperative that Trump must address with sincerity and empathy.

Frank Miele, a columnist for RealClearPolitics and author of “The Media Matrix: What If Everything You Know Is Fake,” offers insights into the significance of prioritizing justice and compassion.
