The cost of subscription services for streaming platforms has once again increased in 2024 and 2025. The latest platform to raise its prices is Disney+, which has upped its monthly fee from $15.99 to $18.99 as of October 21, 2025.

According to Statista’s Anna Fleck, Disney+ now falls on the higher end of monthly pricing, alongside Hulu, which increased its monthly cost from $17.99 to $18.99 in October 2024.

Both Disney+ and Hulu experienced a doubling of their churn rates in September, rising from four to eight percent and five to ten percent, respectively.

The increase in cancellations is believed to be linked to the temporary removal of Jimmy Kimmel from ABC, a Disney subsidiary, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

While the announcements of price hikes in October may have contributed to the higher cancellation rates, other streaming platforms like HBO Max and Apple TV have seen more stable churn rates despite price increases.

Netflix, which had maintained a price of $15.49 since 2022, finally increased its standard ad-free plan to $17.99 in January.

Apple TV also raised its monthly cost to $12.99 in August, maintaining a competitive pricing strategy.

In January 2024, Amazon Prime Video introduced an additional $2.99 monthly charge for an ad-free experience, on top of its $8.99 per month standalone fee for new customers.

Amazon Prime, including Prime Video, currently costs $14.99 per month for members in the U.S.
