UCLA Anderson and Cardano Foundation Collaborate to Support Startup Ecosystem
The partnership between UCLA Anderson and the Cardano Foundation aims to provide comprehensive support for startups in the blockchain space. Through the Venture Accelerator program at UCLA Anderson, founders of UCLA-linked companies will have access to mentors, advisors, and a vast network of business and alumni contacts. The new fellowships offered by the Cardano Foundation will allow entrepreneurs to test their blockchain ideas within the existing entrepreneurship program at UCLA.
Nadia Mannell, the director for commercialization and ecosystem growth at the Cardano Foundation, highlighted the foundation’s commitment to working with founders through its Academy and Venture Hub. The partnership will provide technical support, ecosystem access, and operational guidance to help develop companies on the Cardano platform.
The Venture Hub, a key component of the foundation’s initiatives, will receive a substantial commitment of $ADA by 2026. This hub serves as a platform for founder engagement and support, complementing the services offered through the fellowships.
Integration of Cardano Academy Content into UCLA Curriculum
Starting in 2027, students at UCLA Anderson will benefit from the incorporation of Cardano Academy content and case studies into the Blockchain Cryptocurrency Applications in Business and Finance course. Led by Alex Nascimento, an MBA alum of UCLA Anderson, the course will provide students with practical exercises and project-based learning using material from Cardano Academy.
The partnership aims to bridge the gap between theoretical blockchain knowledge and practical business applications. Cardano Academy offers insights into blockchain fundamentals, governance, staking, and application development, providing students with a holistic understanding of the technology and its potential applications.
Prior to the course integration in 2027, a masterclass titled “Cardano for the Real World: Blockchain, AI, and Building the Next Big Thing” will be conducted on Oct. 19. This interactive session will focus on enterprise Web3 applications, decentralized AI agents, and innovative uses of blockchain technology, empowering students to explore real-world business opportunities.
Participants who complete the masterclass will receive a certification sponsored by the Cardano Foundation, enhancing their knowledge of blockchain and AI applications in various industries.
Highlights of the UCLA Partnership
In addition to the academic collaboration, the Cardano Foundation will sponsor the 2027 UCLA Draper Innovation Showcase, offering educational sessions, founder meetings, and networking opportunities. This showcase will serve as a platform for showcasing innovative ideas and fostering collaboration between academia and industry.
Trish Halamandaris, director of the Venture Accelerator at UCLA Anderson, emphasized the hands-on exposure to blockchain and AI that students will receive through the partnership. The agreement not only benefits students but also provides funding and mentorship opportunities for founders participating in UCLA Accelerate.
While the partnership focuses on education and company development, the Cardano Foundation continues to expand its global reach through collaborations with universities and public institutions, including projects in Brazil and academic partnerships with institutions like the University of Zurich and PUC-Rio.
Overall, the UCLA partnership signifies a strategic alliance between academia and industry, paving the way for innovation and growth in the blockchain ecosystem.
