Former Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley made a significant announcement on July 9 by releasing her 97 delegates and encouraging them to throw their support behind former President Donald Trump.

This development comes just days before the Republican National Convention, where the 45th president is expected to be nominated as the party’s 2024 presidential candidate.

In a statement, Ms. Haley called for unity within the GOP, citing President Joe Biden’s incompetence and warning that Vice President Kamala Harris would be detrimental for America if given another term in office.

“The nominating convention is a time for Republican unity,” stated Ms. Haley.

“We need a president who will hold our enemies to account, secure our border, cut our debt, and get our economy back on track,” expressed the former South Carolina governor and U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

Ms. Haley urged her delegates to throw their support behind former President Trump at the upcoming Republican National Convention, scheduled for July 15–18 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Politico first broke the news.

She will not be in attendance at the convention.

“She was not invited, and she’s fine with that,” confirmed Ms. Haley’s spokesperson, Chaney Denton, to The Epoch Times.

“Trump deserves the convention he wants,” added Ms. Denton. “She’s made it clear she’s voting for him and wishes him the best.”

In May, a few months after suspending her presidential campaign, Ms. Haley declared her intention to vote for former President Trump.

She emphasized the need for a “president who would support capitalism and freedom. A president who understands we need less debt, not more debt.” Despite acknowledging that former President Trump “has not been perfect on these policies,” she believed he was a better choice than President Joe Biden.

The next day, former President Trump hinted that Ms. Haley could join his team “in some form” and did not rule her out as a potential running mate, despite initially doing so before her announcement of supporting her former boss.

In the primaries, Ms. Haley only secured victories in Vermont and the District of Columbia, garnering nine and 19 delegates, respectively.

In states where former President Trump emerged victorious, Ms. Haley accumulated eight delegates in Iowa; nine in New Hampshire; three in her home state of South Carolina; four in Michigan; and 12 each in Colorado, North Carolina, and Minnesota, along with six in Virginia, one in Arkansas, and two in Rhode Island.
